Imaya no Hamburger (今屋のハンバーガー), a Fukuoka institution built around an unconventional long-bun burger, opened its first location outside Japan in Taipei on September 10, 2026.
The shape is closer to a hot dog, but the filling explains the name. A split koppe pan, a long Japanese roll, holds a hand-formed beef and pork hamburger patty, griddled cabbage, mustard, and the shop’s sauce. Some versions add a frankfurter, egg, or cheese.

Founder Katsumi Imazaki developed the style after beginning with hot dogs from a converted mobile sales vehicle in Fukuoka in the late 1970s. The official shop history says he began sandwiching hamburger patties and vegetables in koppe pan after experimenting with ways to make the offering his own.
The Taipei opening menu listed 11 made-to-order combinations. The shop is located at No. 45, Lane 313, Fuxing North Road in Taipei’s Songshan District.
