Anthropic's June 2026 Economic Index release offers a country-level look at how Claude is used in Taiwan. The dataset covers Claude chat and Cowork accounts on the company's Free, Pro, and Max plans. It does not include every AI service or measure the behavior of every person in Taiwan.

In the May data, Taiwan scored 2.08 on Anthropic's Usage Index, placing 31st among 121 countries. The index compares a country's share of Claude usage with its share of the world's working-age population. A score of 1.0 represents usage proportional to population. The United States scored 3.87.

Work accounted for 47.1 percent of Claude use in Taiwan, compared with 43.4 percent globally. Coursework accounted for 12.0 percent in Taiwan, below the global share of 16.5 percent. Software development made up 14.5 percent of requests in Taiwan, versus 11.5 percent globally, while data analysis and business intelligence accounted for 5.5 percent, versus 3.8 percent worldwide.

Compared with the United States, Claude use in Taiwan was more concentrated in work and technical tasks. Work accounted for 47.1 percent of usage in Taiwan and 41.3 percent in the United States. Software development represented 14.5 percent in Taiwan, compared with 8.1 percent in the United States, while data analysis accounted for 5.5 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively. Taiwan also had a higher coursework share, at 12.0 percent versus 8.9 percent.

Existential, relational, and emotional support represented 5.1 percent of Claude requests in Taiwan, compared with 3.4 percent globally and 4.5 percent in the United States. Taiwan's share was about 48 percent higher than the global figure. These percentages describe the mix of Claude conversations, not the number of individual users or the broader adoption of AI across Taiwan.
